This modern Brooklyn rooftop patio landscape design is a stunning transformation that blends style, functionality, and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. The design features low-maintenance artificial turf, creating a lush, green aesthetic year-round without the need for constant upkeep. The space is thoughtfully crafted to maximize relaxation and entertainment, offering areas for lounging and dining while taking full advantage of the panoramic city views. This Manhattan rooftop garden started out as a jungle of invasive plants and was groomed into a unique, usable space for this growing family. The design works with the existing native foliage to keep the privacy, while adding modern elements like the echoed arbor for a clean style. Brick stairs open to a bluestone patio for a dining area. The arbor + treaded bluestone pathway elongates the space, leading to a clear cedar deck. The space is wrapped in a cedar fence and string lighting, creating a warm + inviting feeling.

This project on the rooftop of a West Village townhouse has transformed the space into a serene urban oasis. New, sleek pavers create a stylish foundation, while carefully curated plantings add vibrant greenery and texture, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere. A beautifully crafted pergola provides shade and a cozy retreat, perfect for relaxing or entertaining. To complete the transformation, an Urban Bonfire outdoor kitchen invites gatherings, featuring a modern grill and seating area. This rooftop haven seamlessly blends nature and urban living.

This backyard garden and lounge Clinton Hill, NY features a custom pergola, outdoor kitchen and modern design aesthetic. The main design dilemmas were an existing AC unit and solid concrete slab near the house. By moving the living areas to the center and hiding the AC behind the outdoor kitchen, we were able to create a seamless modern outdoor space. The remaining concrete near the house was covered with gravel to allow for proper drainage. This garden features a mural wall, fireplace/pizza oven, vegetable garden, custom cabinetry, and modern pergola. We also installed lighting and heat lamps on the fence and pergola. Plantings include a mix of drought tolerant flowering perennials and native ornamental grasses.

In Cobble Hill, a stunning landscaping renovation transformed an ordinary backyard into an inviting, functional outdoor retreat. The design features a beautifully crafted outdoor kitchen with high-end appliances, perfect for dining and entertaining. Adjacent to the kitchen, a charming small screened in greenhouse was added, providing space for gardening enthusiasts to cultivate plants year-round. The overall design incorporates lush plantings, decorative hardscaping, and a cozy seating area, creating a harmonious space that blends style with practicality. The renovation enhances both the aesthetic and utility of the outdoor space, making it ideal for both relaxation and hosting gatherings.

This landscaping renovation in a residential backyard featured a complete transformation, with the highlight being the creation and installation of a new outdoor kitchen. Designed for both functionality and style, the kitchen boasts top-of-the-line appliances, ample counter space, and a built-in grill. The surrounding space was thoughtfully landscaped with lush grasses, natural stone pathways, and a new seating area, creating a seamless flow between the kitchen and the rest of the yard. The result is an inviting and sophisticated outdoor environment that encourages both relaxation and socializing.

For this landscape design project located in Forrest Hills, NY, we wanted to match the traditional theme of the exterior with a few contrasting modern elements. Irregular flagstone covers the majority of the patio, meeting raised brick + bluestone planting beds. This design includes a brick pattern on the retaining walls that keeps consistent with the client’s existing garage, for added detail. A mix of grasses, shade-tolerant perennials, and evergreen shrubs are combined with pops of colorful annuals to create contrast + balance. Furniture + accessories were sourced by our design team, with careful thought to our client’s style. The ipe pergola + deck can be used year-round; with fans to keep cool in the summer + heaters for winter warmth. A tucked-away lounge area with floating bench provides a more intimate + casual relaxation space.

This garden is a true oasis in the city. The clients wanted a tailored traditional look with lots of space for entertaining. A fence, patio, kitchen, bench, and lighting were requested. A retaining wall needed replacing, and large vegetable planters were a dream. We were able to work over the existing concrete and proposed a large grouping of pots to hide the mechanicals and storm door on the rear of the townhouse. Bluestone pavers and decorative gravel were used as flooring, cedar with ipe details were used for the woodwork, and commercial string lights create a ceiling. Plantings include junipers, crape myrtle, yew, hydrangea, arborvitae, and hornbeam.

This Brooklyn family homeschool's their two children and wanted a garden that offered space for fun and work. The kids love the basketball court and the adults have space to relax. Everyone enjoys meals from the built-in grill and the large planters offer a space for vegetable gardening. New Eco built custom benches for dining and a storage bench with cushions for lounging. The plantings are informal and sturdy enough to take a hit from a stray ball. Lighting and irrigation complete this low maintenance garden.

Wanting to create an oasis in the city, our clients needed this garden to be lush and vibrant for their high-rise office space in Midtown, Manhattan. The garden needed to function as an area where clients and employees could hold meetings, have lunch, host after work functions or just take a relaxing break during work. The evergreen shrubs and grasses give those working inside their privacy while the tall trees provide shade for the terrace that is in full sun most of the day. We used a mix of drought-tolerant plants as well as annuals to create a look that is full and at the same time low maintenance.

Inspired by our client’s colorful and eclectic interior, we set out to design a playful, modern space w/ a mix of historic elements. An existing retaining wall needed to be replaced and the cobblestone wall was deteriorating. The clients wanted to keep the mature tree and see the old stone wall supporting a large church behind their home. We designed a custom fence, round brick patio, and installed sconces, a post light, and uplighting. The table was custom designed by New Eco and the other furniture was all sourced by our designers. A shade-tolerant planting of ferns, rhododendron, hakonechloa, hosta, and dwarf mondo grass provide a modern take on the green garden.

This loft-like brownstone in Brooklyn, New York needed a landscape that could stand up to it’s massive character. Our clients wanted a wide open space for their 2 children and 2 golden labs to play. Seating and grilling areas were requested, along with a need for good drainage. We gave the space a country feel with stacked stone walls, flagstone patio, and shaker style sconces. The horizontal cedar fence and floating bench provide modern touches. The cottage-style planting includes rudbekia, creeping thyme, liriope, lambs ear, amelanchier, ornamental grasses, and a sour cherry fruit tree.

In the heart of Park Slope, this family has the perfect balance of sleek city bluestone + warm countryside brick in the custom fireplace we built. While keeping the mature existing trees, we designed a combination of planting beds + overflowing pots with a mix of vines, hostas, hydrangea, and more. A perfect setting for a summer evening gathering; this garden design provides privacy while maintaining a cool, airy vibe that’s perfect for partying or relaxing. Bluestone meets stone dust to create different areas of the garden. Our favorite part might be the kitchen bar with a grill, refrigerator, + icemaker. Surround sound speakers + barstools make the bar inviting + high functioning. Native vines climb the cedar pergola’s posts, and river birches juxtapose the cedar fence to balance wild flora with structured hardscapes. White furniture, the white marble counter, and stainless steel bar accessories add a clean, polished look.

This garden needed new plants and new life. The owners wanted more usable space, a large outdoor kitchen, privacy screening, and plants that would withstand San Francisco's unique environment. New Eco designed and built custom cedar cabinetry with stainless counters and sink. Lighting, furniture, and a potted herb garden were also designed and installed. A flagstone path leads to a lounge area surrounded by native plants that tolerate salt spray and flooding. Rhododendron, yucca, lavender, and juniper are just a few of the plants that soften the space and provide yearly blooms.

Even with a slightly smaller outdoor area, our team successfully transformed this rooftop into a stylish and serene urban retreat. The design incorporated lush greenery such as grasses, sweet potato vines, and lantana which added life and color to the space. Thoughtful seating areas were created using modern furniture, allowing for relaxation and socializing while enjoying panoramic views. The layout maximized every inch, blending natural elements with sleek, contemporary design to create a peaceful and inviting environment, perfect for unwinding or entertaining in the heart of the city.
